Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to some of the questions we’re most frequently asked…

Can I use my own measurements?

We recommend taking advantage of our free measuring service — with no catch or commitment.
We’ll keep your measurements on file and create precise cutting plans. Our goal is to minimise carpet waste and help you get the best value.

How do I organise a free measure and quotation?

You’re welcome to visit our store to book an appointment with our friendly sales and administration team — they’ll be happy to assist you.
Alternatively, you can call us on 01403 262054 or send us an email Enquires@supafitcarpets.co.uk

How do I pick the right carpet for my home?

That’s why we work with a wide range of trusted manufacturers to offer you as much choice as possible. Here are a few things to consider:

Do you have any pets?
If so, looped carpets may not be ideal — It can become a giant scratching mat for the furry felines!

Do you have children?
A man-made, bleach-cleanable polypropylene carpet might be a more practical choice.

Prefer something natural like wool?
You might love an 80/20 wool blend. These carpets contain 80% wool (often moth-resistant) and 20% man-made fibres for added softness and durability.

Pop into our store — we’d be happy to help you find the perfect fit for your home.

Do you have samples?

We have a wide range of samples for you to take home and borrow.
All our carpet stands come with sample books, which you’re welcome to borrow for up to 2 days. For Amtico and Karndean, you’ll find dedicated sample drawers available in-store.

We know a small square sample doesn’t always show the full effect of a floor, which is why we also loan out larger display boards for LVT, laminate, engineered, and solid wood flooring — we ask for a returnable £20 deposit per board.

If a sample isn’t available in-store, we’re happy to order one directly from the manufacturer. These are typically delivered straight to your home within a couple of business days.

What is the difference between Laminate & Vinyl?

Both vinyl and laminate flooring offer many similar advantages: they’re durable, affordable, and can look quite similar from a distance. However, each has its own strengths depending on your needs.

Moisture Resistance:
Vinyl is highly water-resistant, making it an excellent choice for high-moisture areas like bathrooms and kitchens. However, laminate flooring now offers 100% watertight options, making it a viable alternative even in moisture-prone spaces.

Comfort & Sound Insulation:
Vinyl often includes a cushioned base layer, making it more comfortable underfoot and better at sound insulation. Laminate, on the other hand, is made of four distinct layers bonded through a lamination process. While not as soft, laminate can still provide comfort depending on the underlayment used.

Appearance & Design Variety:
Laminate flooring is specifically designed to mimic the look of high-end materials like wood, tile, or stone and tends to offer greater design variety and realism. Vinyl also comes in a wide range of styles, but laminate often has the edge in visual authenticity.

Durability & Maintenance:
Laminate flooring now includes scratch-resistant finishes, making it ideal for high-traffic areas or homes with pets. Vinyl, while water-resistant and easy to clean, can dent or scratch more easily depending on the quality.

Do you sell remnants?

Yes, we do!
We often have leftover stock that goes into our ‘Rem’ bay. Some pieces are the perfect size for a rug, which we can whip in-house for a neat, finished edge.

If the piece is too large for us to whip on-site, we can send it off — and it’s usually back within a week.

What payment is required up front, and do you offer finance?

We require a 50% deposit upon accepting a quotation.
This allows us to order the necessary materials and secure a fitting date in our schedule. The remaining balance is due once the work has been completed.

Please note, we do not currently offer finance options.
